DAY 4 OF THE NATIONAL SENIOR MEN RUGBY LEAGUE...

The 2015 National Senior men Rugby league continues on the fourth day with 2 matches at two venues in Kigali.
The early kick off saw the Remera Buffaloes RFC  register a 18-0 win over hosting Lions de Fer from Nyamirambo while the Thousand Hills RFC 25-7 winners over the Kigali Sharks RFC.





Thousand Hills RFC 25 vs Kigali Sharks RFC 7 
The late kick saw the new comers; Thousand Hills RFC beat the Kigali Sharks RFC 25-7 in an entertaining clash at the Gatenga Grounds.
This match began on a cagey note, the Thousand Hill’s Isimbi Carlos scoring one straight forward penalty attempts in the opening quarter of an hour. The Sharks would settle in the match, mauling and rucking from a line out deep in Thousand Hills territory and could not easily ground the ball. Ntakirutimana Fils Abdoul was awarded the try after match referee Andrew Kettlewell consulted the touch judge. Isimbi Carlos converted well as the Thousand Hills led 10-0.
Carlos third attempt at goal was successful; enabling the Thousand Hills to add three points with the scores at 13-0 at the end of the first half.
The second half started with different game plan by  Sharks who were not going down without a fight, again taking the game to the host, gaining good ground, only to be let by Nemeye Emmanuel .




The Kigali Sharks made the game safe when Nemeye, receiving the ball from a lineout in midfield, sliced through the Thousand Hills defence, beating the gain line and offloading to Ngizwenayo Barnabas who played in Irankunda Onesime who touched down with J.de Dieu Hakizimana converting for a 13-7 score.
Thousand Hills players like, Bigirimana Jacques, Mucungura Dusenge Diego, changed the Kigali Sharks expectations and help to raise the score, and the final score was 25-7 on the favor of the host.



 Remera Buffaloes RFC 18 vs Lions de Fer 0 

At UTEXRWA, what was billed to be a closely contested duel ended up being a one sided affair, the Buffaloes running up three non-converted tries and one penalty by Bikamba Lucien.
Niyo Gerard opened the scoring with a second minute penalty before Kazungu Patrick on 30 minutes took the scores to 13-0 at half time.
In the second half, Buffaloes continued to dominate and  Kwizera Steven scored the last try before the end of the game18-0 lead.
It was one way traffic for  the forty minutes allocated to the second half. The Buffaloes completely pounding the Lions into submission. The game ending 18-0.

The players misconduct and indiscipline behavior from both teams, made the referee Arnold Kwizera took severe decisions and handed 4 red cards to Migisha Emmanuel, Kazungu Patrick, Niyo Gerard and Kamali Vincent from Remera Buffaloes and 2 red cards handed to Lions players Maendeleo Sixbert and Jacques Bizimana.

DHL FUN RUGBY & THE NATIONAL LEAGUE

After a very successful fun rugby event by DHL Africa as One Team which consists of kids tag rugby coaching clinics, eye treatment and free glasses handing for more than 100 people with eye problems, music and food at IPRC known as ETO Kicukiro yesterday from 10 am to 4 pm, the 3rd day of the Rwanda rugby National senior men league continues this 17/01/2015.

Teams shown great performance and shown that they are ready to strive till the end .
The newly formed team, the Thousand Hills RFC dominated the Lions RFC in the first 30 min on the score of 3-0 when Isimbi Carlos well kicked the penalty. Nikwigize Olivier Pappy , the play maker and number 8 of the Lions shown that he is still ready to push his team farther and help it secure 5 points after his try. The first half ended with the Lions win over Thousand Hills RFC 5-3

In the second half ,both teams continues to show equal performance until when Bizimana Jacques scored the second try for the Lions , both tries were not converted ,but Ishimwe J.D'amour also help the Lions to get 3 more points.
Bigirimana Jacques of Thousand Hills RFC scored a try to make it 8 and Isimbi Carlos with his great boot scored 3 more points off a penalty. The final score was;
Lions de Fer 13-11 Thousand Hills RFC
In the Southern province Kamonyi Puma hosted Muhanga RFC, both teams played well with some mistakes by the host which wasn’t tolerated by the Muhanga boys who didn’t want a loss in their second game.
Muhanga secured their victory defeating Puma RFC 15-7. Players like Habimana Eric and Habyarimana Patric of  Muhanga RFC were the key players.

TEAMS ARE READY TO GO ALL THE WAY....

The 2014/15  Rwanda national senior men league Season kicked off officially on the 20/12/2014 and continued this past weekend. A total of 7 clubs will take part in this season’s campaign. But it is more fun for the loyal fans as the organizers have now introduced every Saturday’s fixtures and matches, and also to have games played in and outside Kigali, a total of three games every Saturday.
All these is set to make the 15s rugby popular.
The three games every week was introduced to increase club performance, commitment  and above all to allow fans to enjoy more action at different venues.
The season will also see the media participation by broadcasting selected matches during the league phase, as well as the knockout stages.
Another development this season will see the top placed teams play with newly formed clubs unlike previous seasons.
Many rugby enthusiasts are terming this season a warm welcome and baptism for newcomers the Thousand Hills RFC, who was promoted to the top division in December last year.
Remera Buffaloes  RFC are hoping to defend the title once again!  The week end games shown new challenge and competition spirit between different clubs.
At UTEXRWA where Kigali Sharks RFC hosted Lions de Fer, It was tight, a good game to watch. Kigali Sharks was leading the first half by 3-0. This didn’t discourage the Lions who came back in the second half and turned over everything, with a good hits by Nikwigize Olivier who secured the first 5 points for his team and well converted by Ishimwe J.D’amour who did it again when Umuhire Victorien scored the second try. Kigali Sharks managed to get 3 more points by their good kicker Hakizimana Didier to make it 6. Just before the end of the game Maendeleyo Sixbert shown that the Lions where not easy to beat and scored the last try of the day.The Lions secured their 3 points .The final Result was 28-6.
At Gatenga the Thousand Hills RFC that hosted the Remera Buffaloes RFC, shown resistance to the very experienced side of Buffaloes. The Buffaloes leaded the full game with the great boot of Lucien Bikamba who just missed 2 of his 6 kicks. The young team performed very well to defend their opponent. Isimbi Carlos was the outstanding player of the Thousand Hills and helped the team to secure 9 points from his penalty kicks. The Remera Buffaloes forwards seemed stronger and heavier compare to the new comers that had instead quick backlines who are fast and so flexible, this lead the team to some mistakes that the Buffaloes didn’t tolerate and score their fast and second tries as well as one penalty try. Players like Ngango Abdoul and Migisha Emmanuel of Buffaloes were the drive in the forward and Habimana Heritie, Bigirimana Jacques, Iradukunda Ombeni where the key players in the Thousand Hills side.The final score was 29-9 in the favor of Buffaloes which also secured the 3 points of the first day of the league!
The next games will see Remera Buffaloes RFC hosting Kigali Sharks RFC, Lions de Fer will host the Thousand Hills RFC and Kamonyi Puma RFC will host the Muhanga RFC.
